Studying a society of bipedal plant like creatures on an enormous planet which somehow has an earth like atmosphere and comfortable gravity level, our protagonist learns of the apocalypse which comes every thousand years to devastate the planet, and the greater one which obliterates everything every ten thousand years resetting all societal and evolutionary advances as the destruction is so complete.
