This book is set nearly one hundred and fifty years in the future, in a devastated and largely depopulated NSW, Australia. Maia leaves her village in what used to be Wollemi National Park to take the villager’s trade goods down the mountain. She never makes it to her destination, and is thrust into a much larger adventure. After dreaming for so long of the outside world, all she wants now is to find her way home.
